Herman Miller is a recognized innovator in contemporary home, healthcare, and office furniture design. Commitment to integrity in product quality and business relationships have developed through partnerships with some of the century's most outstanding designers.

By the early 1950s, Herman Miller gained a worldwide following for its modern furniture designs by the Eameses, Girard, Nelson, and Noguchi for home and business. In the 1960s, Robert Propst developed the world's first open-plan office furniture system. In the 1970s the Ergon chair introduced the concept of ergonomic design for office seating.

A decade later, the Equa chair set new standards for comfort, equity, and ergonomic support, and the Ethospace system brought new architectural distinction and modular planning to the workplace. In 1994 Herman Miller introduced a major breakthrough in work chair design with the Aeron chair, widely lauded and included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide. And in 2000, Ayse Birsel's Resolve system changed the geometry, scale, and function of office systems furniture.

Throughout the years, the architectural and design community has acknowledged Herman Miller's leadership position in product innovation and design. We continue to enhance and expand our offering of systems, freestanding furniture, and seating to support the continuing changes in commercial work environments and homes.
