April 27, 2005

Herman Miller Japan Ltd. (Address: 5-25-19, Higashi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Nigel Mortimer), the Japanese corporation of the USA furniture manufacturer Herman Miller, Inc. (Headquarters: Michigan, USA; President & CEO: Brian Walker) will introduce of the graphite color frame for Mirra, the high-performance personal work chair.

The Mirra Chair, designed by a Berlin-based leading-edge design team, Studio 7.5, is a next-generation personal work chair which brilliantly combines ergonomic functionality with easy operation.  It also boasts an earth-friendly and sustainable design with up to 96% of its materials recyclable.

The Mirra Chair was featured at NeoCon World's Trade Fair (the largest office furniture exhibition in North America) in June 2003, where it received the Gold Award.  Mirra's innovative design and rich color variations have generated a tremendous response since its release in Japan in January 2004.  The well-designed features of the Mirra Chair were effectively incorporated into its website (URL: http://www.mirra.jp), which led to the winning of the Good Design Award.

In Japan, the Mirra Chair has been offered in 8 backrest colors, 10 seat colors, and one frame color of gray, giving a total of 80 different color combinations.  In response to requests from customers, a graphite color frame will also be made available.  With this added option, Japanese customers will be able to choose from 160 color combinations to suit any environment, from office to home.
